Final Piece

This is my final piece. I have chosen it because I like the way you can still see all the features on my models face but the trees are there in the background too. I am also pleased with the way the two pictures blend together well and you can't see where the pictures join.

I decided to make a Cyanotype and maybe a Photogram out of this because it is all black and white so the colours will come out better.

In conclusion I think this project went well because I did lots of different edits from my two photo shoots. I experimented with Photoshop to get those edits.

When I experimented with Photograms and Cyanotyping I was pleased that the Photogram went well. However I needed to leave the Cyanotype out in the sun for longer but it was a dull winters day and so it wasn't exposed for long enough and there wasn't enough time to complete it to the standard I would have been happy with.

Photograms

I am going to experiment with doing a photogram for another final piece.
A photogram is an image made by placing objects onto light sensitive paper and exposing it to light for a certain amount of time from example 5 seconds.
  • Take the photographic paper of the enlarger and place it in developer for a minute.
  • Then into the stop for 30 seconds.
  • Next place it the fixer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Then place the paper in a water bath for at least 5 minutes.

Experement Edits

I have done a few edits that I am pleased with and out of all of them I am going to chose a Final Piece.

Processes I went though

I have been playing round with some of the tools on Photoshop and have found a way of making the images look like they are overlapping.
  • First I decided which where going to be my two images I would use.
  • Then I turned them both grey scale.
  • I dragged one on top of the other.
  • Then with the first image I turned the opacity up so that I could see the background image thought it.
  • I had to duplicate the background layer so I could turn the opacity up on that one to.
Then I had my Final Image
Here are the processes I went though:

This was the final image I got from these processes.

Best Prints

I have chosen 3 best prints from each photo shoot. These will be the photos I will be experimenting with when I do my Final Piece I have chosen the first three because of the contrast on the face when they are black and white I have chosen the last tree because of the texture in the images will look good as a background.

Cyanotyping

Cyanotyping
For Cyanotyping you have to use a absorbent surface ao when you paint the liquid on it absorbes into it so you get a good picture, it also needs to not break up when you wash the liquids of. When you apply the liquid you need to apply it to the paper of fabric evenly without any bubbles or puddles of liquid on the paper or fabric.
When you expose the image it can vary the time you need to put it in UV light for, if its very sunny it will have to be out for a short time, if its dark it needs to be out for longer because there wont be so much UV light.
When choosing an image to make a cyanotype out of you need to chose an image with lots of contrast so that it will show up.
I think I might try cayanotyping my Final Piece and see how it looks.

Second Photo Shoot

This is my second photo shoot for this project. In theres pictures ellie is looking down to the floor so I can get more of a structure of her face when I turn them to black and white.

First Photo Shoot

This is my first photo shoot for my Mock GCSE Project. It has lots of different textured images in it for the background of my pictures and all of them will be turned into black and white to blend in.

See post below for where I got my inspiration.

Shoot Plan

Shoot Plan-
For my shoot I am going to do 2 photo shoots.

  • One of them is going to be of landscape's or woods with a lot of texture in the image.
  • The other is going to be a photo shoot of a person looking down at the floor I am only going to have head and shoulders in this picture so you can see the expression on there face.
  • When I have my photos I will chose 3 best prints from each shoot and turn them Grey Scale.

Dreaming- Using Layering and Multiple Exposure

Research-
I am looking at moden and old fashioned photographers, Florian Ingrund & Jerry Uelsmann, for my Dream photography project.

Florian Imgrund
I really like the way Florian Ingrund has put to photos together like you are looking thought the person to see the bleak landscape behind her to create a mood in the picture it is suggesting that the person is sad or depressed because of the setup of the landscape. In his photos Florian Imgrund uses layering to get the landscape behind the person in the image.  He change his photos to black and white so you can see the real contrasts of the face and the depth of the landscape in the background. He also uses very textured landscapes in his photos which I like and I will try to take some textured pictures to put in the back ground of my pictures so it gives a interesting effect. This is the inspiration I am using for my Photography Mock GCSE this December.

Jerry Uelsmann

Jerry Uelsmann took his photos a while back before he could use websites like photoshop to stich them together so he did it the old fashioned way with multiple negatives in a traditional darkroom. Uelsmann has been doing this for many years. Long before Photoshop, or even digital photography was even tought of.
I am not to keen on his images they are a bit more harsh and almost look symbloic but they are still all very interesting i like the way in the first photo that it looks like the had is holding to pool of water thats one is a really good effect.
